The riot of sight and sound

Been there recently?

Great combination of cultural discovery and beach holiday. Vietnam and Cambodia have lots of UNESCO sites and heavenly beach retreats. Browse through the most significant legacy from Hanoi to Angkor and finally reward yourself with a long break in the beautiful beach of Mui Ne.

Day 1: Welcome to Hanoi

Welcome to Hanoi In the morning you will land in the capital of Vietnam. Immediately, the vibrant old town will captivate us: in narrow streets, shops, food stalls and centuries-old craft shops line up. And the train goes in the middle! Often only a stone's throw away from the houses. We explore the "Rail Street" and listen to the residents, how it lives here. Amaze, stroll, discover, try! The entry into Vietnam can not be better. Would you like more culture? A visit to the famous Water Puppet Theater rounds off the day on request musically. We can make plenty of interesting stops, and of course we visit the adjacent Sword Lake and Ngoc Son Temple. We also explore the hidden “rail street" where daily trains go sharp in the middle of this cramped old town - often only a few yards away from the houses. For a refreshment en route, let’s do as the local folks do. Grab a small stool for a streetside “bia hoi” and a few minute break watching life scenes go by.

Day 2: Day trip to Halong Bay

One of the most popular destinations in Vietnam is undoubtedly the mysterious Halong Bay. And we go! The bus goes to the pier in the Tuan Chau Marina. The comfortable junk is waiting here. Gently glide through the fairytale island world, visit one of the islands and explore the Thien CungGrotte. 295 km

Day 3: Halong to Hue

Today's sightseeing is all about Ho Chi Minh. We take a look at his mausoleum and his home and visit the Temple of Literature. Afterwards the bus takes us to the airport and the plane takes you to Hue in central Vietnam.

Day 4: Hue to Hoi An

The citadel of Hue was merely modeled on the "Forbidden City". Whether the perfume river really smells, we learn on the boat trip to Thien MuPagode. Fast over the cloud pass with beautiful views and we reach the beautiful town of Hoi An. 160 km

Day 5: Hoi An

Hoi An is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was once an important port city. A walk through the alleyways with its historic buildings, small shops and cozy restaurants is like visiting an open-air museum. Then we take a boat to the island of Cam Kim, where we skilfully watch over the shoulders of skilled woodcarvers making handmade boats and explain the steps. Then it's back to Hoi An. And because this is a place to feel good, we release this afternoon. Our recommendation: beach, shopping and restaurant.

Day 6: Hoi An to Siem Reap

Flying by, time flies and you land in Cambodia. Not somewhere but in Siem Reap near the famous temple of Angkor.
7

Day 7: Siem Reap

The heritage of the Khmer We must have seen the imposing temples of Angkor. They are as different as his rulers were: Angkor Thom captivates with its face towers. The sunken jungle temple Ta Prohm may be familiar to some of us from the movie Tomb Raider, and the filigree adornments of the Banteay Srei are convincing even the most critical visitors.

Day 8: Siem Reap

Angkor Wat Today the time has come. We visit the most famous of all Khmer temples: Angkor Wat. Describing the splendor of this architectural masterpiece is almost impossible. We make our own picture! We deliberately leave you the afternoon free. Maybe you would like to discover more details of the temple? No? Then why not go on a shopping spree or let the Angkor National Museum reminisce about the Khmer culture?
9

Day 9: Siem Reap to Phnom Penh

The capital is waiting. Take the public bus and drive to: Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, National Museum. Finally, we visit one of the famous markets. More local color does not work!
10

Day 10: Phnom Penh to Chau Doc

Goodbye Cambodia. Good morning Vietnam. Take a speedboat down the river from Phnom Penh to Chau Doc. On this trip, the hustle and bustle on the Mekong can be wonderfully observed. Then as now, the river is considered the lifeline of Southeast Asia.
11

Day 11: Chau Doc to Can Tho

Now we are in the middle of the Mekong Delta. First, we learn more about the religion of the same name in the Cao Dai Temple and then explore floating villages, fish farms and a typical Cham village by boat. At first hand, we learn all sorts of interesting things about life on and with the river.
12

Day 12: Can Tho to Saigon

Today we have to get up early. Otherwise, the floating market of Cai Rang is sold out. What is offered is visible from afar. The dealers present their goods on a long staff. With the boat we plunge right into the action - loud haggling is quite desirable. Then it goes by bus to the city of Saigon. 170 km

Day 13: Saigon

Lively and full of history Saigon or now Ho Chi Minh City has many faces. Here colonial heritage, there dynamic metropolis. We start the day with a special breakfast. In the Bird Café we are greeted by a happy twittering of birds, because here too the feathered friends of the guests are welcome. We mingle with the locals and enjoy the unique atmosphere. Strengthened, we then take time to explore the city. The main post office, the cathedral Notre Dame, the opera house, but also the bustling Chinatown with the ornate temple Thien Hau and the Ben Thanh market know to inspire. Attention night owls: Which restaurants, bars and clubs are currently in fashion and which hot spots should not be ignored - your Gebeco travel guide will provide information.

Day 14: Saigon

The morning is reserved for you. Sleep on or rather walk in the footsteps of the Viet Cong? At an additional cost, guests can take a trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels. These served as a subterranean operational area for the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. Then drive to Phan Thiet to the sea. Your beach holiday begins.
15

Day 15 - 18: Saigon to Phan Thiet

Pure relaxation! Just the thing for a nice adventure trip through Vietnam and Cambodia. Phan Thiet offers the ideal conditions and is synonymous with sun, sand and sea. Your hotel offers all amenities and leaves nothing to be desired. Farewell to Vietnam Take a long swim in the sea before returning to Saigon. In the evening the flight starts back
